I came across a wonderful little tutorial on a more attractive way to store matches. In the tutorial the writer put the matches in a small antique blue jar. Well, being fresh out of those, I did the next thing I could think and visit my local craft store to purchase a small clear jar. (Just my luck that they were also have 50% off of all glass goods that day…) Once I got home, I just took the cork out of the top, filled the jar with matches, then cut the strike surface out of the box in a small square that would fit the bottom of the jar. The matches I used were just a dollar store box of kitchen matches and there was plenty of striking surface to cut from. I glued the surface to the bottom of the jar with Fabri-Tac (which is basically a liquid hot glue that just air dries) and voila! A way to hold my matches that I actually want to look at.
This craft is so simple, I didn’t include the normal numbered instructions or supply list, but hopefully that doesn’t hinder anyone. Go fourth and enjoy!
Note: I can’t for the life of me remember where I found it, but I’ll post a link as soon as I do.
